EAOT: Final Outcome

Writer's picture: Alia Alia

ZINE 1:

The style of this zine is very organic as whole as the subjects of the photographs include people, seafood as well as hand writing. I edited the photos with a warm tone as photos with a much cooler tone often emits a melancholy feeling. I balanced out the content within each spread as I want each page to speak for their own without the distraction of the page beside it.

This zine heavily includes digital collages and manipulation. Some images include different blending modes such as colour dodge, luminosity or pin light.

ZINE 2:

Furthermore, the second zine has a similar style in terms of layout. This is to keep things consistent while still having two different themes. I did a lot of cutting and pasting from newspapers where some I edited to make it more suitable and others were kept simple. The photo editing is done the same way as the first zine (warm tones). On the other hand when combining the the newspaper clippings digitally, I cleaned the edges up using the lasso and pen tool, changed colours where necessary and adjusted colour levels.

Final Outcome

Originally, I wanted to go for a a lightly textured paper to print on for the second zine. Unfortunately printing double sided on textured paper isn't an option for A3 hence I went for the same paper as the first zine. The paper is slightly glossy and is not too thick to the point where it isn't able to fold up.
