EARLY RESEARCH

For my independent project, I wanted to focus on further educating myself on the sustainable efforts Malaysia is doing in the graphic/print industry. During critical context, I was struggling to connect my two topics together. Fortunately I stumbled upon an article on famous third culture kids - among these people are leaders, athletes, artists and actors. However, I was mostly intrigued by the late Audrey Hepburn and Kobe Bryant. The two were advocates for humanitarian rights and mental health. With their strong passion for their beliefs, I came to the conclusion of the following statement: With exposure to diverse cultures and and (often times better) education, TCKs are natural leaders for change and strong believers for what they stand for.

I was able to connect that statement with myself as I am a TCK with the passion of environmental conservation.

With this I was able to focus on my passion for the environment and further research sustainability in the print and graphic design industry within Malaysia. A reason why I chose Malaysia is due to the fact that I had no clue on what was going on here as I never took the initiative to learn about it. I mostly follow people located on the other side of the world therefore the content I see is automatically based in that area.

Below is a link to the draft of the written content of my publication.

While researching, I also sketched out possible layout ideas for my publication. Though since I don't have my content finalised, I would assume that these layouts would slightly change.

Publication size: 12.5 x 20 cm
