Hilang: Final Outcome

As a short introduction, the name of this brand is Hilang. Which means lost or gone in the Malay language. In this case, the word refers to the declining population of the proboscis monkey.


The final logo consists of the brand name, with the monkeys nose in replace of the letter I. The letter I is also missing its dot which enhances the meaning of hilang. The nose Icon can also be used as a symbol. Where a simplified version of the monkeys face is used to represent the brand.


The brand uses two fonts, one which more bold compared to its decorative pair along with a deep colour palette complemented by a leafy green and cream colour.


The products are packaged in a box with the icon repeated along the sides. The label displays the items included and is wrapped around the box which ensures that the lid does not detach. The purpose of the mask is to hide themselves from hunters as their prominent feature is their nose where as the security systems creates a loud alarm when human activity is nearby. Their story is told through murals and signboards across activities communities. The signs all include hidden meanings within the phrases used such as 'limited pieces available' and 'instant nose job'; which refers to their declining population and hiding from hunters.
