Project Update: Getting Started

On Friday I met up with Mr. Syakir to discuss the mechanics of my diorama.

He had suggested that Bass Wood (about 6mm thick) would be the best option for my project as it is not too thick. The following week, I went to Art Friends to purchase the wood pieces, I thought of buying an extra piece just in case but I decided not to. Good thing everything turned out well.

For the kerning part of my piece instead of the hand sawing technique I had initially planned on doing, Mr. Syakir suggested to laser cut it instead as the reference I showed was using a thick piece of wood.

For the part that the corals sit on, instead of using wood glue, I will link them together so it is much stronger.
