Last week we were given an hour to take three photos and come up with a poster design that represents our statement of intent. I took a photo of some sand, plants and a pair of scissors.
I created a globe to represent both my journey to sustainability as well as TCKs as a community. I created a crack in the middle which shows the disconnect some individuals feel as a TCK. Though coming out of the crack are some broken pieces which represent the missing pieces i need to require to live more sustainable.
This exercise lead me to a better idea to develop my poster.

This first idea is definitely much better than what I had before. I used a page from a yearbook as my school since pretty much everyone in that book is a TCK. I also took a different picture of a plant and made it look like it was growing out of my head to represent my growth not only as a TCK but in sustainability too. The 'base' of the globe is a photo of a woven floor mat which represents connection within the community as the strands weave into one another. I played around with the placement of the text and placed it radiating out in circles and rays to again represent growth.
What's Next?:
Based on feedback, I am going to change the layout of my poster and not focus so much on the globe.
Look for other ways to incorporate TCKs without it looking too nostalgic. Perhaps add some illustration/doodles too it to give more character to the different personalities.
