Pre-Week 1 Individual Tutorial

I think that I still need to work on my research skills and to be able to condense what I have gathered, so that I can focus on something specific without going out of topic. I also think that I need to work on my typography, communication & getting the message across (in terms of design work) and spending less time worrying about the visual outcome.

The ultimate purpose of my envisioned information piece is to evoke some type of mindset within Malaysians, towards coral endangerment. Even if only one or two people are 'moved' by the piece, hopefully with word of mouth, more people would be informed.

My initial idea for this piece is to create a scenic sculpture that is strong enough to plant an image in the viewers eyes to again, create a new mindset.

I think that my data collection really helped me to get a small visual on people's knowledge regarding the issue. Therefore, it will definitely help me to create a piece that is targeted to them.

I enjoy hands on design processes mainly because I have always been a crafty person. I may not be amazing at it, I quite like sewing and creating mini sculptures out of clay and have made numerous things when I was younger. Though, something I really want to try out is silk screening, resin work, embroidery as well as weaving. I have watched many tutorials online but I haven't had the chance to try them out.

I am quite certain with creating a sculpture. If it isn't, then it will surely be something along the lines of it. In terms of skill I think that I might just need to practice and create test pieces just to get the hang of things.

I am not sure if I need other information at the moment.

To acquire these skills I will make sure to practice and watch plenty of tutorials online.
