WK 9 -10 Progress

Throughout the end of week 9 and entire week 10, I have started to sew the bag hammock and face mask. I firstly started off by creating the pattern pieces, referencing the prototype I had made earlier.

These are the to main pattern pieces needed to make the bag. Each pattern will need two pieces. For the straps of the bag, I have measured them to be about 1inch wide x 26 inches long.

Cutting and Sewing

After cutting the first set of pieces, I used the previously cut fabric as a template to make sure the second piece is as exact as it can be.

Bag Base

I previously mentioned that I wanted to create some type of pattern on the products however I realised that it did not meet my visions for the brand. I kept thinking of the meaning behind the brand and since a translation of the word 'hilang' is disappear, I decided to go with this ombre fading effect where the bag loses it's colour. The fading effect was done by dipping the fabric in bleach to lose its colour.

The fading of the fabric's colour represents the disappearance of the proboscis monkey and how they are trying to escape from human activities. The final logo will be embroidered onto the bag itself.

Completed Bag

note: please excuse the quality of the angles

This is the final outcome of the escape bag. As you can see, the straps can be tied, clipped onto any form of pole (tree) to convert the bag into a hammock.

*In these photos, the bag seems to be flimsy as there is nothing sitting in it.
