What sort of designer/illustrator are you and do you want to become?
At the moment, I would consider myself as a brand designer and a cartoon style illustrator as that is what I have mainly focused on during freelance projects. In the future I would like to become a brand concept and merchandise designer or work as a publication designer for a brand/industry I am interested in. Though I also have a dream of illustrating for children’s books.
What ideas are you interested in and why?
I am very much interested in sustainability and going for a greener life. The current state of our climate is what interests me the most towards this topic; natural disasters are hitting more stronger and often than what we are prepared for. The act of choosing to take public transportation to reduce carbon emissions to stop purchasing items that are not necessary, there is only so much we can do as a single human being to help save our earth. Nevertheless, a growing number of people doing many little things will have a great impact towards the environment.
Secondly, different cultures as well as the concept of third culture children (TCK) is another interest of mine as I was one myself. A third culture kid is described as a person who has spent a significant amount of their life in a culture or surrounding outside of their parents’ surroundings. Oftentimes TCKs don’t feel at home when they are back at their native land or don’t feel a level of connection towards the culture, language or traditions that their parents are used to.
What media/approaches do you use/want to use and why?
When researching, I would like to use documentaries and videos to help me understand ideas better and to get the big idea. Additionally, any form of publication is also something I want to use to easily depict ideas and concepts.
What sorts of audiences are you hoping to address or work with and why?
I am hoping to work with people of different backgrounds and cultures rather than sticking to a certain demographic to collect a more vast study on my topics.
