Mock Up/Prototype

The aim of the card game's packaging is to be easily used and stored by its users. However from feedback received, product experience is important when it comes to packaging design. A box may be simple in the way it is opened but there may be a certain 'wow' factor that creates a memorable experience.

From feedback, I have chosen to create a simple pull out box but in the shape of a tiger's head. One of the character cards include the Malayan tiger and since the Malayan tiger is Malaysia's national animal I have chosen that to be used throughout packaging. The box opens up at the mouth and shows the inside of the tigers mouth. This tray is where the card deck and booklet will be stored.

Box Template

After confirming my measurements and design, I proceeded to create its template on illustrator.

This is the initial draft of the box. It uses the same colours as the character on the cards.

I then came up with these two options for the design. The only difference is the part that is pulled out. I think that by switching the colours of the tiger and its stripes creates a lighter and gives more curiosity to it. I've added certain elements to the box to make it more realistic such as the MC toy safety logo as well as my own logo and additional information such as the recommended age and number of players.

Final Design: Box Template

This it the final design for the card game packaging. I have slightly changed the facial expression of the tiger to make it different from the original character design. The winking of the eye creates a more friendlier look to the tiger.
